Myths about Model Diets

a) All models eat unhealthily

Diet myths

We've all heard the stories about how some models stay thin - the unhealthy liquid-only diets, dangerous bulimia and the unsustainable "just one lettuce leaf for dinner" starvation diet.

Some of us may even have used one of these diets ourselves (before going straight to the freezer and putting it right back on the next week!).

The truth is its very easy for models to fall into this trap, because the pressures to stay thin are so great. Just think - if you were up for a $10,000 job and you thought that losing an extra inch might might clinch it for you, it would be all too simple to take this route.

But its also a mistake to think that all models fall prey to the diseases of anorexia and bulimia. Many models use some variation of the diets on this website, and live healthy, active lifestyles.

It is these models who have really learned to balance weight-loss with lifestyle, which is exactly what I hope to show to you through my website!!

b) There is a 'magic diet' for everyone - its just a matter of finding it

No diet can be successful alone. And by successful I mean
1. You lose weight
2. You have more energy
3. You become MORE, not LESS healthy

Here's the crucial thing that I found - to rely solely on a diet that is too strict is counterproductive. First you lose the weight too fast, doing untold damage to your kidney and liver. Then the relief of finishing the diet is so great that you eat a big bag of cookies to reward yourself, and waste a month's effort in just one day!!

So to make a diet sustainable, it has to be combined with lifestyle change. Walking to the shops, making an appearance in the gym, using a home-exercise video - something to take care of your body and mind, not just to lose an inch off your waist.

My friends from modeling use a whole variety of diets (all listed here). But the common threads between them all are that they eat small portions and exercise regularly!

Of course there are those lucky few that do not need to diet, but the rest of us need to find a diet plan that fits our lifestyle. So take a look through the diets on this website, find one that suits you, and follow my advice to lose the weight in a sustainable, healthy way!!
